Yuri Storione Quartet featuring Perico Sambeat

I was passing by my local jazz club the other night to check in on Yuri Storione, a young talented pianist and composer currently training at the Basel Jazz Campus. He was playing at the Bird’s Eye for two evenings and some recording sessions for a new CD. With him on the bandstage were Stephan Kurmann on bass, the Spanish alto saxophone player Perico Sambeat,  and Marton Juhasz on drums.

It was fun to listen to them, in particular the original work from Yuri was at the same time sophisticated, harmonious and beautifuly emotive. It all seemed that they were enjoying themselves, were inspired by one another and very happy to spend the evening together with their audience. Stay tuned on this promising jazz pianist and bandleader and their upcoming quartet CD.
