Through his work with Paco de Lucia and Return to Forever, Chick Corea has forged a brilliant catalog of Latin-influenced jazz experiments. At the Montreux Jazz Festival 2019 (his 15th participation as a band leader) he was presenting his project Spanish Heart Band, a nod to his 1976 album My Spanish Heart. The 22 Grammy Awards winner was accompanied on stage by eight virtuosos of flamenco and Latin rhythms. On flamenco guitar and on saxophone, Niño Josele and Jorge Pardo, who have been seen at Montreux alongside Paco de Lucia. On trumpet and on trombone, Michael Rodriguez and Steve Davis. And the incomparable rhythm section composed of Luisito Quintero on percussion, Carlitos Del Puerto on bass and Marcus Gilmore on drums set the tempo for star flamenco dancer Nino de los Reyes. - It was an amazing concert and performance which was appreciated by an ecstatic audience with standing ovations during and after the concert.
