Venice in May

Venice does not need an introduction. This May we spent 4 days in this fascinating city and only caught a glimpse of its variety and hidden corners. It is difficult to take pictures which are not a repetition or cliché of some sort as probably few other places on earth have been photographed as intensely as this aquatic city. And famous photographers, such as the magnificent Gianni Berengo Gardin, have captured the spirit of this city in wonderful images and photo books. Why even try? I guess because taking photographs can be a meditation, the serendipitous hunt for capturing a decisive moment is fun and the quest to capture the magic of light and color can give immense pleasure. The images below have been taken with the SL and either the SEM 3.4/21, Summilux 1.4/28 or the Apo 2.0/50.
